Some pictures from Christmas

A few photos from Christmas at the O'Boyles 2012.

The last two days have been full of family and feasting. There's been so much food and the house has been full of people. We didn't have our boxing day dinner in Armoy this year as the aunt that hosts it is sick. Instead we had a few of the family around here yesterday.

Amy had a great big sleep in the evening, long enough for me to watch Miranda's Christmas special undisturbed, which was thoughtful of her. The little lady has been eating and sleeping so much and seems to have grown since we arrived in Ballymena.

The cousins

Amy slept through most of the festivities and cried through most of our lunch. That child really doesnt like us to eat (or sleep). The little monkey.

The two babies did have fun in the evening though when they had a little sing song together with nanna and Janette.

I cant believe my baby is 8 weeks old tomorrow.

More photos to come later...Amy permitting!

The festivities have begun!

Last weekend we took Amy to Merville House to see the reindeer, meet Father Christmas and listen to some festive stories. Lee's mom, Shane, Janette and little James came along too. The kids are still way too young for that sort of thing, it was really more for us, obviously!

We almost didn't end up going. Saturday had been a bad day. Lee had caught that winter nausea bug, Amy hadn't slept the night before and I was wrecked and stressed. But we pulled on our clothes and braved the cold and I'm really glad we did. Lee's mom spent the night afterwards to give us a rest and take Amy. I'm not sure what we'd do without nanna!

 Uncle Shane with cousin James

Right before James whacked Amy. It's going to be so much fun watching these two grow up together :)
Old Father Christmas seemed uneasy with babies. Obviously not the *real Father Christmas.

The baby is all cheeks...kissy cheeks!

She'll be seven weeks old tomorrow. The health visitor came today and apparently our little girl is thriving :) Apparently the worst seven weeks are behind us and things should start to get easier. And they are too. She did two 2 and a half hour sleeps last night with just 30 minutes in between for a feed before going back to sleep again. Which is infinitely better than sleeping for 2 hours and being up for 3 before going down for an hour and a half sleep, which was what she'd been doing.

Little monkey.

The days are getting away from me. Even the ones that feel really long (yesterday)

Still, I managed to do some laundry and ironing which is pretty big around here if you think I consider it an achievement if I shower and brush my teeth in the day.

Actually, it is getting better. She's finally accepting a dummy and it helps to soothe her at night time which means we manage an extra hour of sleep! 4 hours total sleep instead of 3 is pretty amazing. I can (almost) cope on 4 hours.

This week

This weekend we paid a visit to the christmas continental market. It was Amy's first Belfast experience and she slept through all of it. The market was hell, so busy you could only shuffle your feet to get anywhere. Oh how I hate crowds! We drank some mulled wine and had a big German sausage and then we left to take Amy home for her dinner.

Sunday night was difficult. Amy was so unsettled and none of us got too much sleep. Monday was tough. We got through it and yesterday and today I took back some control! I'm making sure I get my shower in the morning and I'm making time to eat (a lot).

Yesterday and today I managed to do some work around the house, take Amy out for walks, nap a little myself and answer a few messages. I feel victorious. Hooray!

Lee got feeding Amy for the first time. She looks like a little doll :)
It's so difficult to find the time to post anything on my blog anymore. I have so many photos and so much I want to write about...but the baby is stirring from her sleep and I'd better go to her.

A trip to the park

Saturday night, while Lee's mom looked after Amy, Lee and I got to go for pizza at our favourite pizza place in Ballymena, Milanos for dinner. It was so nice for us to not have to rush our meal and have a proper conversation again!

On Sunday Amy, her nanna and I took a walk to the park. It was really chilly and we were bundled up warm. It was so foggy too that our hair was covered in fine dewy drops and Amy steamed up the rain cover on her buggy.

I love all the autumn colours.

Little Amy was three weeks old yesterday. We'd had a bit of a sleepless night the night before so the two of us had a bit of a 'babymoon'. We pretty much stayed in bed for most of the day, cuddling, feeding, chatting and singing...and trying to take whatever amount of sleep that was going (not a lot!)

I also got to put her in her frilly pants :)

Attempting mobile blogging...

...because the baby is eating and I can't reach my netbook.

Amy lady is not a fan of her moses basket. She's not awfully fond of her carry cot either but it seems easier to trick her to sleep in it at night. And when I say easy, I mean two hours of feeding, burping, rocking, singing , mopping up the spew in my new (glorious) cleavage and waiting for her to be in a deep enough sleep before gently lowering her into it while holding my breath and hoping and praying she carries on sleeping for the next three hours before it's time to do it all again.
She's adorable though!

A few things have happened non-baby related this past week. I finally got my visa to stay on in the U.K permanently...yay indefinite leave to remain!!

Also, we've booked a family holiday to Tuscany for next year, and although its still a year away, I'm so damn excited to be going to Italy!!

That, of course opens up a whole lot of other visa related problems.

Flip sake.

Oh, the joys of the green passport!

16 days

Daddy went back to work on Wednesday. It's definitely more fun when he's around, but we're getting on alright, just me and Amy. We had a bad day on Thursday. Little miss didn't sleep on Wednesday night or all day on Thursday. At some point in the day, we both just sat and cried for a little while. It got better though and since then, she's been the perfect angel. And thank goodness for that, because Thursday was rough!

Watching South Africa v Ireland with daddy
Hooray for boobies! Just sayin' ;)

I'm finally beginning to feel 'normal' again after wee Amy lady's birth. Wednesday was the first day that I could walk without saying 'ouch! ouch! ouch!'.

I can't believe she's over 2 weeks old already. She's grown 3cms and regained her birth weight and now weighs 6lb 13oz, although that was a few days ago when the health visitor weighed and measured her. She's pretty much outgrown her 'newborn' baby grows, which  makes me sad, because she was so darn cute in them!

While the baby sleeps...

The days are all passing by in a blur and I don't want to forget anything. I've been taking hundreds of photos and trying to capture just everything. We're tired but we're happy and we're having the best time. We're loving all the kisses and cuddles with our baby. These past few days have been just wonderful.
Amy loves music, especially when Lee plays for her. She loves Tom Petty and The Weepies and falls asleep to them at night time. It's just as well we like Tom Petty and The Weepies too! ;)
Flowers from nanna and granda sitting on our dining room table
 Early morning cuddles and chats.

We've had visitors and presents, a hundred messages of well wishes, skype sessions with the family scattered  across the continents, flowers and biscuits and cakes. It's been overwhelming, emotional and tiring but I've loved every minute.

These two

These two are the sweetest thing.

Wee Amy lady can't get enough of her daddy's guitar playing and singing.
He's found his biggest fan in her for sure! We've been having a fair few sing songs around here!

It's so cute watching the two of them together. Daddy chooses the best toys for Amy and they have so much fun together.

I love our little family.

Welcome baby...

Little miss O'Boyle joined the world on Thursday morning. Since then we've been enjoying snuggles and cuddles with our baby while trying to figure out life with a tiny newborn. We're very much in love!

Lots more to come...

All the leaves are brown...

It's looking pretty autumnal around here, although the trees at the back of our garden didn't even have the decency to turn all yellow and orange and golden. They just fell off the trees and have been messing up the lawn. Hmph.

The days are moving surprisingly quickly and before we know it we'll have our wee baby to hold. I'm not too impatient (yet) but ask me again in 8 days time which is babies official due date.

I'm thankful that I'm still feeling pretty well and for all the cute things Lee says and does. He won't let me do anything, has been helping me put on my boots for weeks, brings me food and drinks and snacks, and lately has been talking to my belly telling the baby that it's okay and we're ready for her to come now.

We're both so excited :)

The weekend in Instagram

We had Craig and Charlotte visiting us from London this weekend so we (Lee) got to be tour guides again. I passed on the meal at Mourne Seafood bar and the mini pub tour on Friday night. I'm not so good with late nights and small noisy environments filled with drunk people just at the moment ;)

We breakfasted at St Georges Market again and had crepes from the chatty French man before getting picked up for our Black Taxi Tour of the Falls and Shankill Road murals. Our guide was friendly and had lots to tell us about the areas around the city. Just like every other taxi driver he looked uncertainly at my protruding belly and commented about not wanting to deliver a baby on the side of the road. It didn't stop him from flying over speed bumps though. Sigh.

We lunched at Nicks Warehouse and suppered at Indian Ocean...we ate so much! And we walked along the Lagan, posed by the big fish and drove up to the big cranes.

We've had a lovely weekend, probably the last one entertaining and socialising for a wee while I'd say. The next couple I think we're just going to be hanging around and waiting to see when this little one decides to arrive.

Here some Instagrams I took this weekend. I'm loving my new phone Lee bought for me to replace the one that got rain wrecked the other day. Thanks again Lee!!
