Four months

At 4 months Thomas has moved into the nursery and the big cot. He's fighting naps and doing silly little 30 minute ones now instead of 2 hours, so he's a bit grumpy. He's waking twice in the night and is generally pretty easy to get settled again.

He's found his toes and loves grabbing at them. He likes tummy time and the musical inchworm. He enjoys a good performance of incey wincey spider as well.

He's a wee dote ❤

A walk in the countryside

We spent the morning at the folk museum yesterday. It turned in to a really warm and sunny day. There were hardly any other people about and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Amy had so much fun running around and Tom slept the whole time. Amy loved the chickens and one of the men gave us some fresh, still warm eggs to take home with us.

I moved Thomas into his own room on Friday. He's outgrown the carrycot and kept waking himself and us up bashing his arms and legs against the sides. He hates his cot and probably his nursery too :( He's slept better the past two nights and has slept in until 7 o'clock, but he's been a nightmare to get to sleep at nap times and keeps waking after 30 minutes. That's quite a difference from his usual 2 hour naps he'd been doing before. So he's been grumpy (gumpy as Amy says), and I've been fairly gumpy myself.

Take two - potty training [hell]

I tried eight weeks ago, but it was obvious that Amy was not ready yet. So I thought I'd give it a little while and try again in a few weeks time. Recently she's been taking off her nappy when it's dirty and bringing it to us, sometimes swinging it over her head with a 'look mommy/daddy, poo poos!'.

The horror.

It seemed she was ready and it was time to give it another go.

On Monday morning, after three accidents, she sat down and used the potty! Hooray!! My clever child! Monday went well.

On Tuesday we had more accidents and less potty use. In fact, she started to defiantly wee next to the potty after sitting on it for 5 minutes. And also every time I went to get Thomas up from a nap, I'd come back to an 'uh oh' and a wee on the floor.

This morning started off very promising with a poo poo in the potty without me having to remind her or do anything. A breakthrough...success!!

There were no wee wees in the potty and just defiant ones next to it and one next to the toilet too.

*face palm*

Thomas was crying and wouldn't sleep (or eat for that matter), and Amy was pulling down all the toilet paper and constantly flushing it down the toilet. I ended up smacking her hand for not listening to me repeatedly telling her to stop it, so she was in hysterics, Thomas's cries had gone off the scale so I put a nappy on her. Flip sake.

I'll try again in four weeks or so again when we're home from Portugal.

Flip sake.

Amy came through at 5:15 this morning. Oh Amy! By the time we left the house this morning after ten, it felt like lunch time. We went to Apple Green for a Belgian bun and a tea/coffee and a play in their kiddies play area with the Peppa Pig car. Afterwards we went in to the city for lunch at Pizza Express.

Both the babies fell asleep in the car on the way home. I carried Amy up to her bed and she slept for over 2 hours. This is only the second time they've both napped at the same time, so there was much excitement!

Friday morning

It's cold and rainy and I didn't feel like braving outside to go to the toddler group. I'm a pretty kak mommy. To be fair though, I asked Amy if she wanted to go last night and she said 'no'. She's definitely my child.
