Our snowy day

We got wrapped up really warm and went outside. I think it's the first day this week we've ventured to the great outdoors!! It's been so cold and so windy, you'd blow away. So windy in fact that in Belfast, two teenagers were blown off their feet and into a passing bus!

It's been a sad week in the O'Boyle household. Amy has suddenly given up her daily 2 hour nap. Just totally out of the blue, no warning, just like that. Each day it's taken over an hour before I've finally given up, angry, tired, frustrated and upset with her and with me. Today I didn't bother and we both had a much better day. By the evening though she was short tempered, whiney and more than ready for bed. She fell asleep during our first reading of Bunny and Bee Can't Sleep. No crying or performing or stalling. She'd almost fallen asleep on my shoulder just before that.

I had really enjoyed my little bit of peace just after lunch to tidy, cook, iron, watch telly or have a little nap myself. Her timing is not so great with the (hopefully) imminent arrival of her new sibling. Thanks Amy.

A nice warm cup of tea from her new two handled bunnykins mug.

This morning

We opened up the poster paints and did a spot of painting. Such fun!

These last few days feel as though we're just sitting around waiting for something to happen. I'm only 38 weeks pregnant and am aware that I could still have up to 4 weeks to wait, but I'm getting a little impatient. My hospital bags are packed, everything has been washed and cleaned (and cleaned again). I'm heavy and slow and irritable. Poor Lee and Amy.

Poser

Posing at lunch time in her new tracksuit from auntie Yvonne.
I can't believe the difference in our child since I finished work. She's so much happier and more content. No more tantrums over everything, so much less clingy and we can go out in the car without her crying performing in the back the whole way to our destination and back. She must have been rebelling the whole time. Hooray for a happier life!

The traditional new years day walk on the beach

We piled into granda's van at 11 o'clock and headed to Portrush. It was rainy and windy and not at all a nice day. I wasn't feeling it at all this year. I wasn't in the mood to get drenched, I didn't want to have to do a complete outfit change for Amy after she inevitably falls in to the sea and I didn't want to have to sit in wet leggings myself, but I didn't want to break tradition either. I was thankful for the warm van. What a grump I am, but at almost 37 weeks pregnant, I'm sure no one blamed me?

A Christmas day photo dump

We're just home from a week away in Ballymena with the family. We were only going for a couple of days, and ended up spending over a week. It's nice to go away, but it's always nice to come home too :-) We were all spoiled as usual. We've eaten too many chocolates, cheese boards food cooked entirely in butter. Hooray!
