The 17th - Little friends

We stayed on a little while after play group and let the kids run around outside. It always takes Amy a while to warm up at play group and by the time she's finally coming around, it's time to pack up and go home.
Today we just let them play on and we sat on the grass and ate doughnuts and chatted and weren't interrupted a hundred times because Amy and Harrison were off rolling down an embankment together (and Tom was munching on an apple and trying to stick his finger in Iona's ear).

The 15th - Sunday morning

I'm not sure if it's the improvement in the weather, having access to a car, or the slight betterment of Amy's attitude and behaviour that has impacted on my general mood lately.
But I've been feeling a lot less angry.
Maybe it's because Tom has finally started sleeping through the night, even if he is up at five.
He has started walking.
It is the cutest thing watching him toddle about the house and garden.
Amy has taken an interest in him and is constantly hugging and kissing him
instead of taking his toys away and torturing him.
I'm not rushing (as much) to bedtime and am taking time over bath time, stories and cuddles.
I'm feeling so much less deranged.
I'm not sure what it is, but whatever it is, I hope it lasts.

I took the kids out

It's so strange and so lovely being able to go out on a whim. For so long it's been so difficult to leave the house, but having a car! I've been trying to go out in it regularly to get my nerve back.

Yesterday I took the kids to the zoo!
Last night as I was tucking Amy in to bed, she wrapped her arms around my neck (tight tight) and said so sweetly, 'thank you mommy for taking us to the zoo today'.

Today, on a whim(!) I loaded them up in the car and we went to cavehill. We were only out for an hour, but we were freee!
It was hot and I put the windows down and it was fun!

Sunny days have arrived!

The 10th

Tom's been waking up around 5 o'clock every morning for the last few weeks. I've tried everything to get him to go back to sleep, but he won't, even though he's obviously still tired. I've just been bringing him downstairs so he doesn't waken Amy and Lee. We get some undisturbed mommy and Tom time before the rest of the house wakes up :)

May day weekend

We met the McKeegans at the folk park on Monday. We had a sack race, Amy tried out skipping with a rope and she tried a hula hoop. We went on a horse and carriage ride. We had a mini braai at home.
